Raising children can be challenging, but it should also be deeply satisfying -- and fun!
With encouragement and support, you can learn to draw on your experiences, instincts, and values to build a
nurturing relationship with your child and enjoy a rich family life. What could be more important?
You can get parent coaching in person (in Westchester or midtown Manhattan), on the telephone,
via email, or a combination of the above. You will find out how to communicate effectively, recognize
what works and what doesn't, and reduce family conflict. You will create more harmony and teamwork
in your home. Instead of following the crowd, you will discover how to parent based on your own values. (Read
my article on how children learn gratitude.)
If you're struggling with the transition to parenthood or with finding a balance
between work and family, coaching can help you set priorities and develop effective strategies that will help you move
past the "I'm-not-doing-anything-well" feeling, rediscover your peace of mind, and enjoy your new life.
If your child is defiant or misbehaving at home or in school, you will get the support and information
you need to discipline effectively and to help him or her academically and socially.
If your child is highly sensitive, academically gifted, or an accomplished performing artist,
you will learn how to build healthy confidence and balance as he or she reaches for the stars.
If your child is applying to college, a parent coach offers the resources you need
to keep the process from stressing him -- and you -- out. You'll get the support you need to help him or her decide
on an appropriate range of prospective schools, write terrific essays, and get the paperwork done on time -- without
nagging. (Read my article on how to keep the admissions process sane.)
With support from your coach, you will discover how to love being a parent. You
will learn to find time for yourself, create a better balance between work and family life, become more patient and confident,
and have a happier, more confident child. Contact me at jean@balancedparent.com or 914-941-6478 or 212-802-7333 to discuss whether I can help you and how you'd like to set up your coaching
sessions (phone, email, or in person).

Reviewers' comments on Jean Fitzpatrick's books:
"Fitzpatrick's discussions stimulate readers to review their own lives and show them
how best to transmit the lessons they've learned to the next generation." -- The Washington Post Book World
"Fitzpatrick's...advice is pleasingly spiritual and decidedly noncookbook." -- San Jose Mercury News
Read "Family Ties," an article in American Fitness magazine quoting Jean

As the mother of two young adults, I've learned how important one's own values are in raising
kids to be caring, successful human beings. I know how challenging the demands of work and children can be. I've
discovered how much joy a balanced family life can bring. And for more than fifteen years, through my practice, books and articles, I've been helping other moms and dads discover that joy for themselves, keep their values in their parenting, and
raise happy, confident children.

When you contact me, we will begin by determining whether coaching is appropriate for you.
If we decide to go ahead, we can work either face to face or by telephone, in both cases with email support. The sessions
are arranged as a monthly package, which includes three 30-minute phone or in-person sessions and unlimited email support.
By setting clear goals for each conversation ahead of time, we work together to make the 30-minute conversations informative
and useful for you.
